PADIA: PARENTS. AND PROFESSIONALS. ATTITUDES TO DIETARY INTERVENTIONS IN ASD 'I received information about this exciting new study which I thought the members of County Durham Autistic Support Group may like to take part in. The results of these surveys will be used to inform UK research studies into biomedical therapies for children with ASD. The PADIA study is currently collecting the opinions of parents of children up to 11 years old with ASD, and child health professionals have also been asked to complete a similar survey.' - Helen. We are happy to have received a favourable ethical opinion from the Sunderland Research Ethics Committee for PADIA so we can now begin the process of identifying participants. You have previously indicated your support in recruitment for the study and so I hope that we can begin this process now. Below is some information which explains the purpose of the study, and how participants can register their interest. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact myself. THE STUDY: We would like to find out about parents . and child health professionals. experiences of autism research and their attitudes to the use of the gluten and casein free diet as an intervention in ASD. We are carrying out two web-based surveys; one for parents/carers and the other for child health professionals who support children with ASD and their families. The results of these surveys will help us plan the design of UK research studies into biomedical and complementary and alternative therapies for children with ASD.PARTICIPANTS: Parents/carers of preschool or primary school aged children with a diagnosed autism spectrum disorder, and child health professionals who support children with ASD and their families, are invited to take part.WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? If you are interested in taking part, please visit our website http://www.ncl.ac.uk/cargo-ne/PADIA.html When you follow this link, you'll go to a web page that tells you more about the study, and will ask you to enter some details. We will then send you a letter of invitation with a unique ID number and the link to an information sheet. This information sheet has the link to the web-based survey.
